Intergrationkurse
Germany has been a notable example in implementing strategies to help refugees adapt. The "Integrationskurse" (Integration Courses) in Germany include language learning and orientation components. History of Refugees in the United States
The modern point of refugees in the United States was the United States was established with the Refugee Act of 1980, which standardized the process for admitting refugees and established the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Department of Health and Human Services. This legislation formalized the role of the federal government in coordinating refugee admissions and providing assistance to refugees upon arrival, including resettlement services, English language classes, and employment assistance.
Problems:
The ORR provides grants to voluntary agencies, known as resettlement agencies, to provide essential services such as housing assistance, English language classes, job training, and medical care to refugees. However, funding levels have varied over time, leading to challenges in providing adequate support to refugees and their families.
In recent years, the Trump administration implemented policies aimed at reducing refugee admissions and slashing funding for refugee resettlement programs.
The decrease in governmental funding for refugee resettlement has placed greater strain on local communities, charitable organizations, and volunteers to fill the gaps in services. While private donations and community support play a crucial role in supporting refugees, they cannot fully replace the resources and infrastructure provided by government-funded resettlement programs, and nowadays many of them had to be forced to rely on private donors
